The Marsh Institute continues to receive requests for assistance from seminary presidents, chaplains, and pastoral leaders in California, Sweden, Uganda, and cities across war-torn Ukraine. These requests echo needs already expressed by ministry leaders in South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Malaysia, and other regions.

Although the settings differ, the need is consistent: chaplains require practical training, sound biblical formation, and dependable resources to serve people with competence and compassion.

This need directly engages the Marsh Institute’s mission to collaborate with, equip, support, and advocate for chaplains wherever they serve. Through the generosity of donors and ministry partners, MIC provides training, mentoring, and practical resources for chaplains serving in hospitals, correctional facilities, military settings, courtrooms, schools, and communities around the world."

Standing with Ukraine in the Darkest Hour

When the Marsh Institute’s leadership traveled to war-torn Ukraine, we witnessed firsthand the profound strain on those holding society together. We sat with police chaplains, church leaders, and officials serving within national courts, listening to their struggles and assessing their unique needs.

That journey bore critical fruit. Today, we hold a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ukrainian School of Judges to deliver tailored training for legal professionals, judges, and public safety personnel. Together, we are helping shape a sustainable chaplaincy network that provides vital spiritual and emotional care to police officers, military personnel, judges, and their families during a season of relentless uncertainty and trauma.

Partnering directly with Ukrainian seminaries and frontline organizations, we are actively building:

• Contextual Training: Collaborative chaplaincy programs co-developed with local Ukrainian seminaries.

• Specialized Frameworks: Specialized curricula designed specifically for military, public safety, and legal environments.

• Essential Care Tools: Practical, life-giving resources to address trauma, grief, and moral injury.

• A Sustainable Legacy: A self-multiplying network of Ukrainian leaders equipped to train others within their own communities.
